Kickin' it Old School...

I'm going to attempt to feature a different Valentine's Day item each post over the coming weeks. Starting things off are my line of "Kickin' It Old School Punk Love Cards" Yeah, I wasn't always someone's Mom... I used to be cool once! These Valentine's are just the thing for all you cool kids out there... Give one of these cards to your lover, then put on a Ramones album and make out on the couch... just like the old days!

All about the LOVE...

Yesterday, I was jarred into realizing that I need to get myself in gear for Valentine's Day! I had still been riding the "post christmas" wave, until I got a fun custom order for a Valentine gift, and I woke up! So one of my tasks for today is to get the shops all "Valentine Ready"! That's usually a fairly simple task, as I'm all about the LOVE... I've got a big selection of cards and gifts in the LOVE theme. Here is a sneak peek!

Empowering Women!

I was asked recently to donate a painting to be auctioned at a V-Day production of The Vagina Monologues in California. Every year, local volunteers and college students produce benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. In 2006, over 2700 V-Day benefit events took place by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. For more information about V-Day, check out www.vday.org

And please... attend a V-Day event in your area. You will laugh, cry, get angry, and laugh some more. But most importantly, you'll be doing your part to stop violence against woman and girls. According to the website for the D-Day movement, The 'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina!

For those who are curious... the painting that I donated is called "Power Flower". You can see it by going here:

Happy New Year!

My goodness... the Holidays are over, and a new year has begun! I had the opportunity for one last little burst of creativity the tail end of the year... My husband was home from work from Christmas to New Year's, so with him around to help wrangle the kiddos, I had a little extra time to paint and knit and crochet! I finished up three projects that had been sitting around unfinished... so that is a good feeling... tying up some loose ends of 2007!
And now here we are, on what I consider to REALLY be the first fresh-start day of the New Year! because we all know that January First is REALLY sort of an extension of the previous night's party! At least it is for those who actually celebrate New Year's eve! I have three children, so I haven't been out for New Year's in 7 years, and most years I confess I'm asleep before midnight. Such a party animal I am! But I digress... So, first day of the year, and I've gotten a special order for 3 pair of mitts, and I've got a big clearance sale going in my shops to clear out my leftover holiday stuff, and I've got a few NEW things added to the shops! I'm thinking that 2008 is going pretty well, so far!

Yup, I'm still here...

I've been SO busy with my family's holiday preparations, making gifts, family birthdays (my husband and two boys all have December birthdays...my youngest turns 3 today!)that I haven't been listing much in the shops this week! But a couple of days ago I did get around to listing this cowl... it is made of a fun stripey wool! After the holidays, I'm hoping to "clean house" in the shops a little bit, which means there will be some serious sales going on! Stay tuned...

But for now, I've got Christmas presents to finish! I'm going to go knit and knit and knit and knit.....
