MotherGoddess

I've been working on a series of paintings celebrating the beauty of pregnancy.... my "MotherGoddess" series. I love the beautiful voluptuous curves of pregnancy! For me, pregnancy was the ultimate expression of my womanhood. While pregnant I felt so alive, so beautiful, so powerful. Pregnancy taught me to truly appreciate and respect the strength of my own body. I am PROUD of my body, and all that it has accomplished. I have given birth to three beautiful children. My body has nourished them, and made them strong.

Pictured here are "MotherGoddess 2" and "MotherGoddess 4"

Anti-Valentines

OK... so let's suppose that your best friend is feeling a little cranky with all the lovey-dovey talk of Valentines, because she just broke up with her boyfriend. What are you going to do to cheer her up? Pink Kitty has the answer... my exclusive line of "break-up cards"! They are just the thing to help mend broken hearts, or at least bring a smile to the face of those not so into the whole "valentine" thing.
There are three different designs available:

"boys are stupid" features elegant floral paper with "Boys are Stupid" in fancy script attached with little black brads. This one is sure to bring a smile to her face!

"You have to kiss a lot of frogs..." We all know how the saying goes... so after your friend has broken up with the latest frog, this card is sure to cheer her up! It is adorned with white and lilac ribbons and a cute little plastic frog!

"broken heart" This is a simple design featuring a paper heart torn in half and repaired with a real band-aid. It is backed with deep purple paper and adorned with antiqued brads. Perfect for males or females... anyone who has suffered a broken heart.

All about the LOVE...

Yesterday, I was jarred into realizing that I need to get myself in gear for Valentine's Day! I had still been riding the "post christmas" wave, until I got a fun custom order for a Valentine gift, and I woke up! So one of my tasks for today is to get the shops all "Valentine Ready"! That's usually a fairly simple task, as I'm all about the LOVE... I've got a big selection of cards and gifts in the LOVE theme. Here is a sneak peek!

Empowering Women!

I was asked recently to donate a painting to be auctioned at a V-Day production of The Vagina Monologues in California. Every year, local volunteers and college students produce benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. In 2006, over 2700 V-Day benefit events took place by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. For more information about V-Day, check out www.vday.org

And please... attend a V-Day event in your area. You will laugh, cry, get angry, and laugh some more. But most importantly, you'll be doing your part to stop violence against woman and girls. According to the website for the D-Day movement, The 'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina!

For those who are curious... the painting that I donated is called "Power Flower". You can see it by going here:

Happy New Year!

My goodness... the Holidays are over, and a new year has begun! I had the opportunity for one last little burst of creativity the tail end of the year... My husband was home from work from Christmas to New Year's, so with him around to help wrangle the kiddos, I had a little extra time to paint and knit and crochet! I finished up three projects that had been sitting around unfinished... so that is a good feeling... tying up some loose ends of 2007!
And now here we are, on what I consider to REALLY be the first fresh-start day of the New Year! because we all know that January First is REALLY sort of an extension of the previous night's party! At least it is for those who actually celebrate New Year's eve! I have three children, so I haven't been out for New Year's in 7 years, and most years I confess I'm asleep before midnight. Such a party animal I am! But I digress... So, first day of the year, and I've gotten a special order for 3 pair of mitts, and I've got a big clearance sale going in my shops to clear out my leftover holiday stuff, and I've got a few NEW things added to the shops! I'm thinking that 2008 is going pretty well, so far!
